Mahmoud Abu Hamda
Documentary Photographer & Photojournalist
Mahmoud Abu Hamda is a Palestinian documentary photographer and photojournalist from the Gaza Strip who has worked in photography since 2008. He approaches photography not simply as a record of a moment, but as a form of visual testimony - one that preserves people's memories and restores their human presence beyond numbers and headlines.
His work focuses on daily life and humanitarian and social issues, particularly the ways people protect their dignity and continue living amid war, displacement, and loss. Working from within Gaza, Mahmoud documents events not as a distant observer, but as a witness who shares the same place, uncertainty, and lived reality as the people he photographs.
He has collaborated with international media and humanitarian organizations and has also worked as a photography lecturer and visual storytelling trainer. He believes in photography as a means of creating understanding, preserving memory, and carrying forward voices that might otherwise remain unseen or unheard. His work has been exhibited internationally and recognized by several global photography awards and competitions.
