I WON’T SUGARCOAT it; I’m a very hairy guy. This can create some unruly images if I let things go untouched for even a couple of weeks. Thankfully, I have a back shaver and body groomer to avoid creating the illusion that I’m wearing football pads under my t-shirt. Not to mention, my arsenal of beard trimmers to keep my face from looking like I just washed ashore after years at sea—I don’t have Matt Damon’s ability to pull that off. Still, there are two tiny sources of hair that can undo all that effort and make me look immediately disheveled: my ears and nose.

Best Overall Nose Hair Trimmer

Pros

  • Easy to hold
  • Can use on wet and dry hairs
  • Built-in vacuum system for easy cleaning

Cons

  • Not rechargable, battery powered

Luckily, this too can be taken care of with the right tool—often in only a couple of minutes—like the Panasonic Nose Hair Trimmer. I’ve had this ranked as our best overall nose hair trimmer since I joined Men’s Health as grooming editor two years ago, and I’m still using the same one I originally tested in 2024. After all that time, here’s how the device is holding up today.

Features and Design

The device’s box reads “premium nose hair trimmer,” but that’s not just marketing mambo-jumbo. Panasonic's trimmer is one of the most thoughtfully designed and powerful options out there. Slightly larger and heavier than most compact trimmers, like the Manscaped Weed Whacker or Wahl Micro Groomsman, it has a substantial feel that makes it easier to grip and control, especially when maneuvering around delicate areas. That added weight gives it a more balanced, comfortable feel in the hand, making precision trimming noticeably easier.

The trimmer is designed to handle more than just nose hair. Its dual-edge blade system can also tidy ear hair and touch up eyebrows, while trimming hairs from multiple directions without tugging or pulling. Powering those blades is a high-speed 9400 cpm motor that quickly cuts through coarse or dense hair, helping reduce the number of passes needed for a clean result.

What really separates Panasonic’s trimmer from the pack, however, is the built-in vacuum system that captures hairs before they have a chance to fall into the sink. While it doesn’t capture every single hair, it significantly reduces the amount of cleanup afterward and helps keep the trimming head cleaner between uses.

The trimmer can also be used on wet or dry haira, so it can be rinsed under running water after each session. Typically retailing for $50—although it’s 30 percent off right now on Amazon—it is on the higher end of the market. Plus, it’s battery-operated, so it’s an ongoing investment.

Effectiveness

That being said, Panasonic justifies its price tag. The powerful motor and dual-edge blades cut through thick, overgrown hairs quickly and comfortably without the pulling or snagging that's common with budget models. Even after using the tool for two years, most trims are still finished in just a few passes, leaving my nose feeling noticeably cleaner than with cheaper alternatives that often required repeated attempts to catch every hair.

The ergonomic design also continues to prove useful. Its larger handle offers a secure grip that makes it easy to control, especially when trimming around awkward angles inside the nostrils. Although the trimmer is technically waterproof, I typically use it on dry hair. Wet hair tends to lie flat, making it slightly harder to trim efficiently, so I usually use it before showering. This may take a second to get used to, as it goes against what you’re used to with shaving, where the hair is easier to cut after being washed.

The built-in vacuum remains one of my favorite features. Instead of leaving clipped hairs scattered around the sink, it captured most of them inside the trimmer, making cleanup far less messy. With regular use, I only need to empty the collection chamber every two or three months.

After two years, it continues to perform just as well as it did on day one. The blades are sharp, and trimming continues to be fast and comfortable. The battery life has declined slightly, but it’s only a couple of minutes shorter. The difference hasn’t been significant enough to affect day-to-day performance.

For cons, there is really only one, and it was the same one the day I got it. Being battery-powered, it is an ongoing cost. This isn’t unheard of with nose hair trimmers, unlike beard trimmers or electric shavers, where it has become the norm to be chargeable.

Other great options like the Zorami Ear and Nose Hair Trimmer Clipper or Philips Norelco Nose Trimmer 5000 are also battery-powered. Still, after traveling with my USB-C-chargeable Manscaped Weed Whacker, it’s hard not to fantasize about how convenient that feature would be on the Panasonic trimmer. Still, Panasonic is a much more powerful device. For anyone willing to spend a little more, it delivers the kind of speed, comfort, and durability that cheaper nose hair trimmers rarely match.

Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Panasonic Nose Hair Trimmer?

The Panasonic ER-GN70-K earns its spot as our best overall nose hair trimmer by combining a premium build with exceptional performance. Its powerful motor and dual-edge blades trim thick nose and ear hair quickly without pulling, while the built-in vacuum captures most clippings to keep cleanup to a minimum.

The ergonomic design feels secure in hand, and its wet/dry construction makes maintenance effortless. Even after two years of regular use, mine still performs nearly as well as it did on day one, making it a worthwhile investment for anyone who values comfort, durability, and speed.
