3 min readPART OF WHAT makes a good secret agent in a film franchise or television series—whether that's Jack Bauer, Ethan Hunt, or James Bond—is their ability to work well, over and over and over again, with new allies and team members. That stands for the characters first and foremost: As much as those characters love to go rogue and do what needs to be done, they couldn't do it all by themselves. But it also stands for the actors, too. If Kiefer Sutherland, Tom Cruise, and any one of the many James Bonds through the years couldn't muster up the proper chemistry with their continually changing roster of costars, it wouldn't be anywhere near as fun to watch as it generally is.
Those same principles apply to Netflix's spy thriller series The Night Agent. Throughout the now three seasons of the show, we've seen our central secret agent hero—Peter Sutherland—manage his heroic, intuitive nature in three different scenarios, and with three almost entirely different groups of people around him. The same goes for actor Gabriel Basso, who plays Peter—he's shown that he can play well with all sorts of different actors, and that he can make both an allied or adversarial relationship work just about on the jump.
One of Peter's most important costars in The Night Agent season 3 is Isabel De Leon, a financial journalist whom he meets while undercover in Istanbul. Isabel is a key piece of a conspiracy being uncovered around several new pieces of information, including a FinCEN analyst named Jay (Suraj Sharma) who accidentally killed his suspicious and possibly corrupt superior. As Peter discovers, Jay has been working with Isabel, and both are key to a major conspiracy and bit of corruption being uncovered—and that draws The Broker, Jacob Monroe, back into the fold.
The Night Agent had a bit of a tough second season, but with season 3, draws things back to a good old fashioned conspiracy thriller. With Isabel playing the vital role of journalist and public advocate at the center—think Woodward and Bernstein's vital role in exposing the truth in something like All The President's Men—the season puts the pieces perfectly in place, and actress Genesis Rodriguez has the right charm and intensity to fit right in.

While actress Genesis Rodriguez started her career in Spanish-language telenovelas, she has since shifted into a number of American-produced films and television shows, and her role as Isabel in The Night Agent season 3 is the most recent of these.
She's had a number of major roles both on television and in films, and there's a good chance you recognize her from one of these major projects. Fans of The Night Agent probably recognize her mostly from one of two significant TV roles: She played Sloane Hargreeves, the love interest of Tom Hopper's Luther, in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy, and also joined the main cast in season 2 of Taylor Sheridan's Paramount+ series Lioness, playing Captain Josephina Carrillo. She also played a small role in seasons 7 and 8 of Entourage, and was a part of the main cast for the little-seen 2020 reboot of The Fugitive, produced by Quibi (Remember Quibi?)
On the big screen, she's appeared in the thrillers Man on a Ledge with Sam Worthington, The Last Stand with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Run All Night with Liam Neeson. She also starred with Will Ferrell in his Spanish-language comedy Casa De Mi Padre and has built a relationship with Kevin Smith, appearing in his movies Tusk (which is a totally bonkers watch for anyone with a bit of a stomach for body horror), Yoga Hosers, and The 4:30 Movie.
