Dune: Part Three's excellent first trailer has landed to give us all a dramatic first look at the trilogy's "epic conclusion". Based on the Frank Herbert novel Dune Messiah, the trailer for the third movie debuted exclusively on TikTok this afternoon.
The trailer gives us our best look yet at Robert Pattinson's striking transformation for the villainous Scytale, while also giving us our first look at the returning Jason Momoa who reprises his role as Duncan Idaho.
Ahead of the trailer release, Warner Bros shared several character posters which confirmed, as expected, that Dune: Part Three will be the final instalment of Denis Villeneuve's celebrated Dune trilogy.
Included in the poster release were returning stars Zendaya as Chani, Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Javier Bardem as Stilgar and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides.
Rebecca Ferguson's Lady Jessica also got her own character poster although revealed ahead of the trailer launch that she's barely in the movie. It's unsurprising given that her character isn't in Dune Messiah.
"The script is great, I've read it. I think it's gonna be fantastic. But my journey was No. 1 and 2. I don't even think she [my character] was supposed to be in 3. And then Denis was like, 'I need to have one scene', and I get one scene," she told Happy Sad Confused.
What to read next
Last year, Pattinson confirmed his involvement in the third Dune movie when he casually let slip that he had worked on the movie while promoting Die, My Love.
"It's actually really nice [not worrying about things]," he said. "When I was doing Dune, it was so hot in the desert that I just couldn't question anything. And it was so relaxing, like my brain actually wasn’t operating, I did not have a single functioning brain cell. And I was just listening to Denis, 'Whatever you want!'."
The film follows on from the events of Dune: Part Two, which saw Paul Atreides overthrow the Emperor and become the Emperor of the Known Universe.
Dune: Part Three will be released in cinemas on 18 December.
