DURING MY NEARLY two years as Men’s Health grooming editor, not much in the world has been predictable. After only one shave with this razor, it will be clear why I hold it in such high regard. The body is lightweight yet substantial enough to grip securely, and the ergonomic shape makes it easy to control while shaving. Braun doesn't overthink the design, led by its minimalist exterior that keeps things clean with just a small LED display that shows battery life, a lock button, and the flexible shaving head. It looks sleek and uncluttered while still offering useful functionality. The razor is also fully waterproof, has about 60 minutes of battery life, and includes a quick-charge option that’s convenient when I’m short on time.
Despite its understated exterior, Braun doesn't skimp on the interior specs. Sonic Technology, which produces up to 40,000 micro-vibrations per second, helps lift facial hair and guide the razor smoothly across my skin. I also like the AutoSense feature, which detects beard density and automatically adjusts power to maintain consistent cutting performance.
The shaving head uses five cutting elements designed to shave extremely close to the skin. Braun upgraded the blades to surgical-grade stainless steel, which helps them stay sharp longer. The gold-colored ProLift blade lifts flat hairs for a more thorough shave, while the redesigned pop-up trimmer makes detailing sideburns and edges easier and more precise.
